El terrorismo se ha consolidado como una forma de violencia activa en nuestra sociedad a la vez que compleja de tipificar en el marco jurídico internacional. El presente artículo propone un marco metodológico amplio para estudiar el discurso del terrorismo a través de la traducción con el fin de trasladar un lenguaje claro e imparcial que beneficie su aplicación en otros campos, como es el jurídico. Así, conceptualizamos la (des)globalización y ofrecemos un estado de la cuestión que vincula este proceso de interacción con la principal literatura que combina el terrorismo y la traducción. Seguidamente, analizamos los retos que plantea la traducción de este contenido en formato texto, e indicamos áreas de común interés que aún no han sido suficientemente desarrolladas. Todo ello, con el objetivo de demostrar cómo se legitiman las acciones terroristas mediante las palabras, los eufemismos, las metáforas, el empleo de arabismos o el uso de expresiones animalizadas, entre otros, y medir la precisión de su traducción con el uso de la herramienta de traducción automática Traductor de Google.
Terrorism has been established as a form of violence that is both active in our society and at the same time difficult to conceptualise. This paper proposes a broad methodological framework to study the discourse of terrorism through the lens of translation in order to convey clear and impartial language that will benefit its application in other fields, such as the legal field. Thus, (de)globalisation is conceptualised and the current state of the issue is outlined, linking this process of interaction with the main body of literature combining terrorism and translation. The challenges posed by the translation of this content in text format are then analysed and several areas of common interest that have not yet been sufficiently developed are noted. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate how terrorist actions are legitimised through words, euphemisms, metaphors, the use of Arabisms and the use of animated expressions, and to measure the accuracy of their translation using the machine translation tool Google Translate.
