The Moriscos preserved the traditional poems in praise of the Prophet Muḥammad that had been popular in the Arab-Islamic world since at least the thirteenth century. In the seventeenth century, the Moriscos already would easily mix their Castilian literary culture with their Islamic faith, by writing poems that were aligned with their spiritual tradition but that could be read within the context of Hispanic poetics. In this work, we analyze some of those Morisco poetic productions dedicated to the Prophet Muḥammad.
