Vicenta Maturana (1793–1859) fue una escritora española que desarrolló la mayor parte de su obra, tanto en prosa como en verso, en la primera mitad del siglo XIX. La crítica, que ha rescatado a la autora del olvido hace pocos años, la ha considerado una poeta y narradora transicional entre las corrientes de la poesía ilustrada dieciochescas y las estéticas románticas que surgen en el primer tercio del siglo. Pese a las nuevas aportaciones, su obra poética sigue aún sin haber sido analizada en su conjunto para esclarecer las adscripciones estilísticas de la autora. En este artículo se realiza un análisis de temas y estilos de la poesía en verso de la autora a través de las tres ediciones ampliadas que publicó en vida. Se pretende con ello desentrañar la presunta evolución poética de la autora desde los modelos de la Ilustración madura hasta las primeras manifestaciones del romanticismo.
Vicenta Maturana (1793–1859) was a Spanish writer who published most of her work, both in prose and verse, in the first half of the nineteenth century. Scholars, who have rescued the author from oblivion in recent years, have considered her a transitional poet and writer between the poetry of the Enlightenment in the eighteenth century and the form of romanticism that emerged in the first third of the following century. Despite the new contributions, her poetic work has not yet been studied as a whole in order to clarify the author’s stylistic affiliations. This paper addresses the themes and style of this writer in her poetry in verse through the three editions she published during her lifetime. This aims to clarify the assumed poetic evolution of the author from the models of the mature Enlightenment to the first manifestations of romanticism.
