Se recogen en este artículo los poemas de las obras publicadas por el hispanista y profesor Joaquín Casalduero que hacen referencia a Estados Unidos (EEUU, en adelante), en general o a la ciudad de Nueva York (NY, en adelante) en concreto. Aunque los primeros poemas aparecieron en 1967, fueron escritos años antes, en circunstancias complejas por la situación política estadounidense durante la guerra fría –tanto Truman como el senador McCarthy y su caza de brujas–, no acorde con la ideología del poeta. La dificultad que presentan algunos de ellos para su comprensión ha exigido la presencia de otros poemas que completan esa visión y facilitan su interpretación y el conocimiento del poeta olvidado.
This article presents poems from the works of the Hispanist and Professor Joaquín Casalduero that refer to the United States of America (EEUU, hereafter) in general or to New York City (NY, hereafter) in particular. Although the first poems appeared in 1967, they were written years before, under complex circumstances due to the American political unrest during the Cold War –both Truman and Senator McCarthy and his witch-hunt– and not in accordance with the poet’s ideology. The difficulty that some of them present for comprehension has required the inclusion of other poems that complete that vision and facilitate interpretation and the acquisition of knowledge about the forgotten poet.
