The Spanish Civil War exile brought outstanding intellectuals to the US, pivotal for American Hispanic Studies. Often, only academics or public intellectuals are noted in the history of literature, yet cultural networks relied on many mediators. This article highlights Teresa Gilman Guillén’s role, studying her correspondence with Jorge Guillén and her cultural leading role in her Boston ‘salon’. Through these documents, it is evident that over the years she facilitated meetings among intellectuals, transcending cultures and disciplines. Teresa played a crucial mediation role, leaving a distinct imprint on Hispanic Culture Studies’ evolution during the latter half of the 20th century.
