Este estudio explora la complejidad de ciertas nociones de "espera" relacionadas con la sociedad cubana, analizando su manifestación en diversas esferas como el arte, la literatura, el folklore y las ciencias sociales. El trabajo identifica dos principales concepciones de espera: la "esperanza secularizada" y las "esperas institucionales prolépticamente organizadas", destacando cómo estas se entrelazan con múltiples elementos de la vida cotidiana de los cubanos. Mediante un enfoque innovador, se considera que algunas de estas esperas no solo son fenómenos temporales, sino verdaderas instituciones sociales, arraigadas profundamente en la estructura sociocultural e histórica del país. Además, se parte de considerar los procesos de espera como instituciones sociales, abordándolos desde las operaciones que los caracterizan en cada caso. La dimensión operacional aquí se considera como el núcleo distintivo desde el cual se avanza al análisis de otras dimensiones también esenciales en las esperas, tales como el espacio, el tiempo o las experiencias psicológicas asociadas a las mismas. Este estudio busca superar el enfoque tradicionalmente temporal de las ciencias sociales sobre las esperas, ofreciendo un análisis más profundo de sus características materiales basado en sus manifestaciones y representaciones en el contexto cubano.
This study explores the complexity of certain notions of "waiting" related to Cuban society, analyzing their manifestation across various spheres such as art, literature, folklore, and social sciences. The article identifies two main conceptions of waiting: "secularized hope" and "proleptically organized institutional waits," highlighting how these intertwine with multiple elements of everyday life for Cubans. Through an innovative approach, it considers that some of these "waits" are not merely temporal phenomena, but true social institutions, deeply rooted in the country's socio-cultural and historical structure. Moreover, the study begins by considering the waiting processes as social institutions, addressing them through the operations that characterize them in each case. The operational dimension here is recognised as the distinctive core from which the analysis of other essential dimensions in waiting advances, such as space, time, or the associated psychological experiences. This study aims to surpass the traditionally temporal focus of the social sciences on waiting, offering a deeper analysis of its material characteristics based on its manifestations and representations in the Cuban context.
