El presente artículo analiza el rol y sentido que tienen los animales en los cuentos de la escritora mexicana Amparo Dávila, particularmente aquellas narraciones protagonizadas por personajes femeninos, donde se aprecia una relación marcada por la represión, opresión y violencia que ambos comparten como criaturas sometidas al orden masculino. Sobre la base de este vínculo se plantea que del mismo modo que en el gótico el fantasma constituyó una clave para representar los conflictos de las mujeres en el hogar, la figura del animal en los cuentos de terror de Amparo Dávila actúa como expresión de las terribles opresiones experimentadas por las mujeres en sus vidas.
This paper analyzes the role and meaning that animals have in the stories of the Mexicanwriter Amparo Dávila, particularly in those narrations starring female characters, in which a relationship marked by repression, oppression and violence that both share as creatures subjected to the male order. On the basis of this link, it is suggested that, in the same way that in the Gothic the ghost was a key to represent the conflicts of women within the home, the figure of the animal in the horror stories of Amparo Dávila, acts as an expression of the terrible oppressions that women experience in their lives.
