El artículo reflexiona sobre la vigencia de la obra El viento de los reinos, del poeta chileno Efraín Barquero (1931-2020), en el marco de la reciente publicación de su segunda edición, a más de cincuenta años de la aparición de la primera. En particular, estudiamos la noción de “tiempo mítico” que emerge del poema y el modo en que esta se constituye como una alternativa a la noción de “tiempo histórico”, para evaluar luego las consecuencias que tal opción genera en la configuración de la identidad del sujeto occidental contemporáneo.
The article reflects on the relevance of El viento de los reinos, a poem by the Chilean author Efraín Barquero (1931-2020), in light of the recent publication of its second edition, more than fifty years after the release of the first one. In particular, we study the notion of “mythical time” that emerges from the poem and the way in which it presents itself as an alternative to the notion of “historical time”, in order to evaluate the consequences that such an option generates in the configuration of the identity of the contemporary Western individual.
