Hasta el momento, la literatura intercultural, entendida como aquella escrita por personas con un trasfondo cultural y lingüístico diferente al de publicación, se ha investigado principalmente desde perspectivas nacionales, a pesar de tratarse de un fenómeno global. En el presente artículo, se analizan dos novelas de ámbitos culturales y lingüísticos así como momentos históricos distintos: Das Leben ist eine Karawanserei de la turco-alemana Emine Sevgi Özdamar (1992) y Dilluns ens estimaran / El lunes nos querrán de la marroquí-catalana Najat El Hachmi (2021), a fin de determinar si, efectivamente, se pueden hallar paralelismos entre ambos que vayan más allá de su contexto nacional concreto. Dada la dificultad de definir con exactitud este «género», se proponen cinco dimensiones amplias –lingüística, cultural, temática, estética y orientada hacia la recepción– como punto de partida para comparar los textos en relación a su interculturalidad. El análisis revela notables semejanzas en lo que se refiere a la dimensión cultural, estética y orientada hacia la recepción, aunque los textos difieren en la presencia de varias lenguas y el enfoque temático.
Until now, intercultural literature, that is,literature written by people with a cultural and linguistic background different from that of publication, has been investigated mainly from national perspectives, despite the fact that it is a global phenomenon. In the present paper, two novels from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds as well as different historical moments are analyzed: Das Leben ist eine Karawansereiby the Turkish-German Emine Sevgi Özdamar (1992) and Dilluns ens estimaran / El lunes nos querránby the Moroccan-Catalan Najat El Hachmi (2021), in order to determine whether, indeed, there can be found parallelismsthat surpasstheir specific national context. Given the difficulty of defining this “genre” precisely, fivebroaddimensions -linguistic, cultural, thematic, aesthetic and reception-oriented -areproposed as a starting point for comparing the texts in relation to their interculturality. The analysis reveals remarkable similarities in the cultural, aesthetic and reception-oriented dimensions, although the texts differ in the presence of several languages and the thematic focus.
