La representación de la mujer en el arte es un tema complejo y polifacético que ha evolucionado a lo largo de los siglos, reflejando las percepciones sociales, culturales y políticas de cada época. Inserta en este discurso se encuentra La cocinera (segunda mitad del siglo xvii), una pintura atribuida a Juan Simón Gutiérrez. The representation of women in art is a complex and multifaceted subject that has evolved over the centuries, reflecting the social, cultural, and politi-cal perceptions of each era. Embedded in this discourse is La Cocinera (second half of the 17th century), attributed to Juan Simón Gutiérrez. This work, which depicts a woman performing her daily tasks in a kitchen, deviates from the common artis-tic norms dependent on the predominant religious themes of 17th-century Spain. The analysis, crossing disciplines, encompasses not only the historical and sty-listic context but also the functional interpretation of the domestic space and the representation of women within it. Through this painting, it becomes evident how Baroque art illuminates often invisible aspects of women’s lives in Spain, portraying the Baroque woman as the protagonist of her everyday narrative
