El presente artículo interpreta el texto “Sinfonía en gris mayor” de Rubén Darío. La propuesta de análisis busca resaltar los elementos visuales presentes en el poema y considera que la mirada que se construye adopta representaciones y modos de ver plasmados en la plástica epocal: el género de las marinas, Whistler y el color gris. Los elementos señalados son refuncionalizados a través de un filtro de marcada raigambre americana. La interpretación se despliega sobre la premisa de que Darío anticipa maneras de ver que recién se consolidarán en el período vanguardista.
This article analyzes Ruben Darío’s “Sinfonía en gris mayor.” The analysis seeks to highlight the visual elements present in the poem. The interpretation considers that the gaze that is constructed in the poem adopts representations and ways of seeing embodied in the epochal visual arts: seascapes Whistler, and the color gray. The indicated elements are re-functionalized through a filter of distinctively Latin American roots. The interpretive operations that are deployed are all based on the premise that Darío anticipates ways of seeing traditionally associated with avant-garde aesthetics.
