Este artículo tiene como objeto perfilar el fundamento teórico de la obra alarquiana a la hora de reconstruir la historia de la lengua española, fundamento que tiene como base tres pilares: la atención a las lenguas de sustrato, el criterio contrastivo respecto de otras modalidades hispánicas, sean o no románicas en la evolución diacrónica y, por último, la concepción integral del estudio filológico al considerar la relación entre lengua y literatura recurso metodológico válido y necesario para el estudio de su evolución
The aim of this article is to outline the theoretical basis of Alarquian work when it comes to reconstructing the history of the Spanish language, a basis based on three pillars: attention to the substrate languages, the contrastive criterion with respect to other Hispanic modalities, whether or not they are Romance in diachronic evolution and, finally, the integral conception of philological study by considering the relationship between language and literature as a valid and necessary methodological resource for the study of its evolution.
