This article reviews the contributions of Emilio Alarcos Llorach to the history of Spanish, in the study of medieval texts, in the analysis of questions of historical phonetics, historical morphosyntax and historical lexicology, in his vision of the origins of Spanish and in the study of the Glosas Emilianenses and Silenses.
