The main objective of this article is to draw from Celebrity Studies and Motherhood Studies to demonstrate that the Spanish celebrity Paula Echevarría conveys the ideology of the ‘new momism’ in her statements in magazines and social media, and in her mother roles in different audiovisual fictions. However, it will show that Echevarría cannot always keep to these ‘new momist’ rules. The ultimate objective is to provide evidence, similar to Anglophone studies of celebrities in the English language, that the new momism is a ‘fantasy’ ideology which is impossible to convey without betraying its fissures or contradictions.
