), págs. 11-22Desde la Antigüedad, el viaje está presente en las distintas disciplinas científicas y en las artes. El relato del viaje ha adoptado también los formatos más diversos, desde la crónica de vocación objetiva, pasando por el cuaderno de bitácora, hasta la narrativa de ficción. Esta diversidad formal apunta a la bicefalia documental-artística inherente a las escrituras del viaje. La realidad objetiva que explora el viajero se tiñe de la subjetividad del observador, quien además es portador de una mirada preconstruida. El sujeto viajero se erige en vértice de un triángulo que conecta la realidad propia y la ajena, y el viaje, en el puente que une ambas orillas. El objetivo de estos breves apuntes no es otro que revisar y poner al día algunos de los pilares básicos que sustentan lo que podríamos denominar una poética de la escritura de viajes, un campo tan complejo como escurridizo por su esencia dinámica e híbrida. De este modo se ofrece también una adecuada contextualización de las distintas aportaciones que integran este volumen monográfico sobre las culturas española y alemana en tránsito, y sobre el viaje y su relato como espacio de contacto.
Since ancient times, travel has been present in different scientific disciplines and the arts. Travel narratives have also adopted the most diverse formats, from chronicle, which aims at objectivity, through logbook, to fictional narrative. This formal diversity points to the documentary-artistic duality inherent to travel writing. The objective reality the traveler explores is tinged with the subjectivity of the observer, who is also the bearer of a preconstructed gaze. Travelling subjects become the vertex of a triangle that connects their reality to that of others, and the journey becomes the bridge that connects both shores. The aim of these brief notes is none other than to review and update some of the basic pillars that support what could be called a poetics of travel writing, a field as complex as it is elusive due to its dynamic and hybrid essence. This article also offers an adequate contextualization of the different contributions that make up this monographic volume on Spanish and German cultures in transit, as well as on travel and its narratives as a contact space.
