El artículo analiza desde el punto de vista de la literatura existencialista el cuento “La caída”, de Virgilio Piñera. La filosofía y la literatura comparten algunas características en común dentro del texto literario, y el existencialismo es una corriente filosófica que enfatiza la relación entre dichas disciplinas. En este trabajo se pretenden analizar los elementos del existencialismo filosófico que están presentes en el cuento del escritor cubano. Para ello, trataré de demostrar que la literatura de Virgilio Piñera tiene una base existencialista en la medida en que aborda temas e ideas como la importancia del individuo, el absurdo, la libertad, la muerte, etc. Fundamentaré tal propósito a partir de los principios del existencialismo francés y del existencialismo alemán.
This article analyzes Virgilio Piñera's short story "The Fall" from the perspective of existentialist literature . Philosophy and literature share some common characteristics within the literary text, and existentialism is a philosophical movement that emphasizes the relationship between these disciplines. This paper aims to analyze the elements of philosophical existentialism present in the Cuban writer's short story. To do so, I will attempt to demonstrate that Virgilio Piñera's literature has an existentialist foundation in that it addresses themes and ideas such as the importance of the individual, the absurd, freedom, death, etc. I will base this purpose on the principles of French existentialism and German existentialism.
