Para aunar al conocimiento de las instancias de producción, circulación y recepción de los impresos en el ámbito hispanoamericano del siglo XIX y acotándome al ámbito mexicano, me ha interesado estudiar cómo el tema político fue un factor relevante para la configuración de ciertos géneros literarios populares. Entre otros, esto es notable en el caso de las calaveras, las cuales son una forma poética satírica vigente en la tradición literaria mexicana actual. En estas páginas expongo el estudio de las calaveras de tema político producidas por la imprenta de Antonio Vanegas Arroyo entre 1880 y 1917, sosteniendo que son materiales claves para comprender el esplendor y el declive de las calaveras como forma editorial. Propongo una clasificación de las calaveras en cinco rubros, con base en la manera en que el tema político se entreveró con la muerte como artificio literario y en las consecuencias que tuvo sobre el tono satírico y la intención crítica del discurso.
To add to the knowledge of the instances of production, circulation and reception of printed matter in the Hispanic American sphere of the 19th century and limiting myself to the Mexican space, I have studied how the political theme was a relevant factor for the configuration of certain popular literary genres. This is notable in the case of the calaveras, which are a satirical poetic form in the current Mexican literary tradition. Here I present the study of the calaveras of political themes produced by the printing press of Antonio Vanegas Arroyo between 1880 and 1917, arguing that they are key materials to understand the splendor and decline of the calaveras as an editorial form. I propose a classification of the calaveras into five categories, based on the way in which the political theme was intertwined with death as a literary artifice and on the consequences that it had on the satirical tone and the critical intention of the discourse.
