El propósito de este trabajo es presentar las variables sociales y culturales que hacen de la prensa histórica un importante vehículo de difusión de contenidos lingüísticos e informaciones sobre las nuevas disciplinas lingüísticas que se constituyen en el siglo XIX. Asimismo, se analizan las principales categorías que se han creado desde la historiografía lingüística para el estudio de la prensa como material de análisis. Desde esta doble perspectiva, se presentan las contribuciones de los artículos del presente monográfico.
This paper aims to present the social and cultural variables that make the historical press an important medium for disseminating linguistic content and information about the emerging linguistic disciplines that were established in the 19th century. In addition, the main categories developed within linguistic historiography for the study of the press as a source of analysis are examined. Considering both dimensions, the contributions of the articles included in this special issue are presented.
