Este artículo rinde homenaje a Daniel Fuentes González, profesor de la Universidad de Almería al que algunos miembros del área de Lingüística General de la Universidad de Córdoba tuvieron el placer de conocer en las jornadas homónimas que se celebraron en la Universidad de Sevilla en la primavera de 2022. En este encuentro, los integrantes del área pudieron compartir con el profesor Fuentes González sus inquietudes científicas y aprender de su contribución, a lo largo de su trayectoria académica, a los campos de la sociolingüística, la enseñanza de español como lengua extranjera y la lingüística forense, intereses, algunos compartidos entre ambas universidades. En este reconocimiento, presentamos una visión de conjunto del área de Lingüística General de la Universidad de Córdoba, sus inicios, su evolución y su estructura actual. Se analizan sus principales líneas de investigación, que incluyen la historiografía de la lingüística, la gramaticografía, la terminología y la lingüística aplicada. Asimismo, se resalta el compromiso del profesorado con la investigación, la internacionalización y la excelencia académica. El artículo subraya la importancia del rigor, la seriedad y la vocación docente como valores compartidos con el profesor Fuentes González, cuyo legado intelectual sigue siendo una referencia en el ámbito de la lingüística.
This article pays tribute to Daniel Fuentes González, professor at the University of Almería, whom some members of the Department of General Linguistics at the University of Córdoba had the pleasure of meeting at the homonymous conference held at the University of Seville in the spring of 2022. At this meeting, the members of the Department were able to share their scientific concerns with Professor Fuentes González and learn from his contribution, throughout his academic career, to the fields of sociolinguistics, the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language and forensic linguistics, some of which are shared interests between the two universities. In this acknowledgement, we present an overview of the Department of General Linguistics at the University of Cordoba, its beginnings, its evolution and its current structure. We analyse its main lines of research, which include the Historiography of Linguistics, Grammaticography, Terminology and Applied Linguistics. It also highlights the commitment of the professors to research, internationalisation and academic excellence. The article underlines the importance of rigour, seriousness and teaching vocation as values shared with Professor Fuentes González, whose intellectual legacy continues to be a reference in the field of linguistics.
