En 2021, treinta años después del feminicidio de su hermana, Cristina Rivera Garza publica El invencible verano de Liliana, en el que reconstruye los retazos de una vida cercenada por la violencia patriarcal. El análisis se detiene en examinar cómo al mismo tiempo que rastrea el archivo oficial, la escritora comienza a hurgar en el archivo íntimo, y es este recorrido entre lo público y lo privado el anclaje vertebral de la materialidad de una escritura a medio camino, o en la frontera, entre la ficción y la no ficción. Se demuestra cómo elige formas disruptivas de hacer justicia y fijar memoria sobre el feminicidio de su hermana y, en este gesto, establece alianzas y visibiliza las luchas y los aportes teóricos del feminismo durante las últimas décadas.
In 2021, thirty years after the femicide of her sister, Cristina Rivera Garza publishes The Invincible Summer of Liliana, in which she reconstructs the fragments of a life severed by patriarchal violence. The analysis stops to examine how, while tracing the official archive, the writer begins to delve into the intimate archive. It is this journey between the public and the private that serves as the backbone of the materiality of a writing halfway, or on the border, between fiction and nonfiction. It shows how she chooses disruptive ways to seek justice and to establish a memory about her sister’s femicide, and in this gesture, she forms alliances and brings visibility to the struggles and theoretical contributions made by feminism over the past decades.
