El teatro musical americano (de Broadway) es un género que desde su llegada a España no ha parado de crecer, especialmente en Madrid. El presente artículo se propone estudiar el papel de las mujeres en este sector, tanto dentro como fuera del escenario. Para ello, se ha analizado la presencia de mujeres profesionales en cuatro grandes áreas (equipo artístico, elenco, equipo técnico y orquesta) de los montajes re-presentados en las principales salas de Madrid en las temporadas 2022-2023, 2023-2024 y 2024-2025. A partir de esta investigación se podrá dar respuesta a la pregunta principal del estudio: ¿existe desigualdad de género en el teatro musical de Madrid?
The American musical is a genre which has never stopped growing since its arrival in Spain, especially in Madrid. The follow-ing article aims to study women’s role in this industry, both on and off stage. In order to do that, the presence of female professionals inside four big areas (artistic team, cast, orchestra and technical crew) has been analyzed. This research will focus on the shows exhibited in the main theaters of Madrid during the seasons 2022-2023, 2023-2024 and 2024-2025, and will allow us to answer the main question posed by the paper: is there gender inequality in Madrid’s musical theater?
