Este trabajo busca analizar la poesía de María Monvel (nombre real Ercilia Brito Letelier), poeta chilena de comienzos del siglo XX (1897-1936), como una producción situada en un contexto histórico, social y cultural, nacional y latinoamericano, del cual se alimenta y al cual resignifica, con elementos elaborados de su propia biografía. A partir de allí y en correspondencia con otras poetas del periodo con las que dialoga y conforma comunidades intelectuales, los círculos concéntricos de su obra, conforman una estética, la que focalizada en la representación de los sentimientos, elabora una interrelación entre Eros y Tánatos, la que se complejiza e integra desde las cartas a sus últimos poemas.
This paper seeks to analyze the poetry of María Monvel (real name Ercilia Brito Letelier), Chilean poet of the early twentieth century (1897-1936), as a production situated in a historical, social and cultural, national and Latin American context, from which she feeds and which she resignifies, with elements elaborated from her own biography. From there and in correspondence with other poets of the period with whom she dialogues and forms intellectual communities, the concentric circles of her work, conform an aesthetic that focuses on the representation of feelings and elaborates an interrelation between Eros and Thanatos, which becomes more complex and integrated (including letters as well as her last poems).
