Este ensayo tiene como objetivo analizar una serie de acontecimientos marítimos, en su mayo-ría de carácter bélico (enfrentamientos navales, actos de piratería, armamento de flotas milita-res), que presentan implicaciones potenciales para los intereses geopolíticos, estratégicos y económicos del Ducado de Milán y de otros estados europeos (Francia, Corona de Aragón y Reino de Nápoles) en el Mediterráneo occidental, y más especialmente en la zona de Liguria, durante la segunda mitad del siglo XV. El objeto de investigación será la correspondencia transmitida desde Alessandria y otros centros urbanos de los alrededores a las autoridades del gobierno central del Ducado de Milán, durante los reinados de Francisco I Sforza (1450-66), Galeazzo María Sforza (1466-76) y Gian Galeazzo María Sforza (1476-94).
This essay aims to analyse a series of maritime events, mostly of a war-like nature (naval clashes, acts of piracy, arming of military fleets), which have potential implications for the geopolitical, strategic and economic interests of the Duchy of Milan and other European States (the Kingdom of France, the Crown of Aragon and the Kingdom of Naples) in the Western Mediterranean, and more especially in the Ligurian area, during the second half of the 15thCentury. The object of the investigation will be the correspondence transmitted from Alessan-dria and other urban towns and villages of the surrounding territory to the authorities of the central government of the Duchy of Milan, during the reigns of Francesco I Sforza (1450-66), Galeazzo Maria Sforza (1466-76) and Gian Galeazzo Maria Sforza (1476-94).
