The aim of the present work is to highlight some Portuguese maritime legends which are still part of the popular tradition. These legends are strongly connected to Portugal and its mari-time history in the period of the voyages of discovery and we will start our study with the most ancient legend regarding the founding of Lisbon by the quintessentially voyager, Ulys-ses.
Il presente lavoro intende mettere in risalto alcune delle leggende marittime portoghesi, an-cora oggi vive nella tradizione popolare, collegate al Portogallo e alla sua storia marittima du-rante l’epoca dei viaggi di scoperta, a partire dalla leggenda più antica relativa alla fondazione della città di Lisbona per conto del navigatore per eccellenza, Ulisse.
