Debido al cuestionamiento de las fronteras que se establecen en materia literaria entre lo real y lo ficticio, la obra narrativa de Enrique Vila-Matas desafía las narrativas lineales convencionales, privilegiando las fronteras entre géneros y explorando la brevedad como estrategia narrativa y como forma de vida literaria. Esta transgresión se manifiesta de forma central en su insistencia en la textualidad múltiple, el mestizaje genérico y la disgregación de la identidad. Sus novelas a menudo adoptan estructuras fragmentarias, que reflejan la desintegración del mundo y la identidad escindida del sujeto. Analizamos estas cuestiones desde los inicios de su obra narrativa hasta la primera década del siglo XXI.
Based on the questioning of the boundaries established in literary matters between the real and the fictional, the narrative work of Enrique Vila-Matas challenges conventional linear narratives, prioritizing the boundaries between genres and exploring brevity as a narrative strategy and literary way of life. This transgression is centrally manifested in his insistence on multiple textuality, generic hybridity, and the disintegration of identity. His novels often adopt fragmentary structures, which reflect the disintegration of the world and the ruptured identity of the subject. We analyze these questions from the beginnings of his narrative work to the first decade of the 21st century.
