Estas páginas prestan atención a la faceta humana, vital y académica de Javier Serrano Alonso, profesor de la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. Sobre su trayectoria vital se aportan algunos datos biográficos que dejaron una profunda huella en su faceta humana. Por su parte, la trayectoria académica de Javier Serrano se articula en dos etapas: la primera transcurre en Madrid (desde el inicio de sus estudios hasta su licenciatura en la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, donde, asimismo, se doctoró en 1992); mientras que la segunda surge a raíz de su traslado a Galicia, en cuya Universidad de Santiago obtuvo plaza como Profesor Titular de Literatura Española en 1997, que desempeñó en la Facultad de Humanidades de Lugo hasta su fallecimiento. Este afincamiento en Galicia implicó integrarse en el Grupo de Investigación Valle-Inclán y colaborar estrechamente en los proyectos del grupo, entre otras actividades. En la vertiente académica, se destacan sus contribuciones al estudio de la Literatura Española del siglo XX y, en particular, al concerniente a la Edad de Plata. Su investigación se orientó principalmente, pero no de modo exclusivo, hacia la obra de Valle-Inclán, núcleo de las líneas de investigación que definen su coherente itinerario, sin menoscabo de su interés y dedicación a la obra de Pérez de Ayala. El Profesor Serrano Alonso ha dejado un legado académico de referencia ineludible e indiscutible. (MSZ)
This article considers the life and the academic work of Javier Serrano Alonso, Professor of the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela. In terms of the path his life would take, we inelude biographical Information and events that would leave a profound mark on his character. At the same time, we address the two periods of his academic career. The first stage took place in Madrid at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where he completed his undergraduate degree and where he earned his doctorate in 1992. The second period comprises his relocation to Galicia, where he obtained a position as a tenured Professor of Spanish Literature in 1997 at the Universidad de Santiago, which he held in the College of Humanities of Lugo until his death. Settling in Galicia, he would become a member of the Valle-Inclán Research Group (Grupo de Investigación Valle-Inclán), in whose projeets and activities he would significantly collaborate. Concerning his academic output, we highlight his contributions to the study of the Silver Age of Twentieth Century Spanish Literature, writing about various authors, particularly Valle-Inclán. While Serrano Alonso would also show interest in the work of Pérez de Ayala, the oeuvre of Valle-Inclán would be at the center of his research, serving as a unifying thread in his scholarly trajectory. Professor Serrano Alonso has left behind an academic legacy, a reference point both unavoidable and undeniable. (MSZ)
