Conceptos políticos premodernos como el de constitución mixta en su modalidad polisinodial sobreviven a lo largo del Antiguo Régimen. En la monarquía hispánica el sistema por Consejos es una perfecta expresión de la premoderna continuidad entre las diferencias sociales y territoriales y los órganos políticos de gobierno. El sistema polisinodial está unido a una constelación conceptual (iurisdictio, prudencia, consilium, etc.) incompatible con los abstractos conceptos modernos como el de soberanía y división de poderes. La confluencia de dos constelaciones conceptuales tan diversas pone de relieve que la primera modernidad es un universo mental conflictivo. El artículo se cierra así con las críticas moderadas que el gobierno polisinodial recibe durante los Austrias y con el rechazo frontal de los sectores reformadores durante la administración borbónica.
Premodern political concepts such as the mixed constitution in its polysynodal modality survive through the Old Regime. In the Hispanic monarchy, the council system is a perfect expression of the premodern continuity between social and territorial differences and the political governing bodies. The polysynodal system is linked to a conceptual constellation (iurisdictio, prudence, consilium, etc.) incompatible with abstract modern concepts such as sovereignty and the division of powers. The confluence of two such diverse conceptual constellations highlights that early modernity is a conflictive mental universe. The article thus closes with the criticism that the polysynodal government received during the Habsburgs and with the frontal rejection of the reforming sectors during the Bourbon adminstration.
