A la luz de las recientes investigaciones se ha puesto de manifiesto la influencia de la religiosidad visionaria de las mujeres en la política y la cultura de la Mallorca del siglo XVI. El presente estudio propone adentrarse en las relaciones espirituales y políticas que mantuvo la beguina y profetisa Elisabet Cifre (1467-1542), con el objetivo de poner de relieve su presencia en los círculos humanistas de la isla y establecer las bases para dibujar la amplísima red femenina de místicas y beguinas mallorquinas, que se desarrolló a lo largo de todo el siglo XVI, y que tuvo influencia, sin duda, en siglos posteriores.
In light of recent research, the influence of women’s visionary religiosi-ty on the political and cultural spheres of sixteenth-century in Mallorca has become increasingly evident. This study seeks to examine the spiritual and political relation-ships maintained by the beguine and prophetess Elisabet Cifre (1467-1542), with the aim of highlighting her presence within the island’s humanist circles and laying the foundation for reconstructing the vast female network of Mallorcan mystics and beguines that emerged throughout the sixteenth century —an influence that undoubtedly extended into subsequent centuries
