Se analiza la atribución de la autoría de la Segunda leyenda a Hernán de Illanes, al obispo don Pelayo y al regidor abulense Luis Pacheco de Espinosa, y se propone una nueva posibilidad: que el autor fuera un monje del monasterio de Santa María la Antigua de Ávila. Esto posibilitaría que Luis Ariz, prior de ese mismo convento, utilizara con entera libertad la Segunda leyenda en su Historia. Se analizan también otras cuestiones relacionadas: los apéndices aparecidos posteriormente, las hipotéticas Primera y Tercera leyenda y la problemática del manuscrito 1991 de la Universidad de Salamanca.
The attribution of authorship of the Second Legend to Hernán de Illanes, Bishop Pelayo, and Alderman Luis Pacheco de Espinosa is analyzed, and a new possibility is proposed: that the author was a monk from the Monastery of Santa María la Antigua in Ávila. This would allow Luis Ariz, prior of that same monastery, to use the Second Legend freely in his History. Other related issues are also analyzed: the appendices that appeared later, the hypothetical First and Third Legend, and the problems surrounding the 1991 manuscript from the University of Salamanca.
