The article analyses the emergence and con-solidation of photographic imagery in Giro-na during the 19th century, within a global context of technological and cultural trans-formation. It highlights the coexistence of engraving and photography, as well as the key role of local portraitists, engravers, and publishers. It also examines early illustrated publications, albums, cartes de visite, and postcards. Finally, it emphasizes the relati-onship between tradition and modernity in the visual construction of the city.
L’article analitza la irrupció i consoli-dació de la imatge fotogràfica a Girona durant el segle XIX, en el marc d’un con-text global de transformació tecnològi-ca i cultural. Destaca la coexistència del gravat i la fotografia, així com el paper clau de retratistes, gravadors i editors locals. També examina les primeres pu-blicacions il·lustrades, àlbums, targetes de visita i postals. Finalment, s’emfasitza la relació entre tradició i modernitat en la construcció visual de la ciutat.
