Este artículo propone que Virgilio Piñera se reapropia de la estructura del Bildungsroman para subvertir su sentido e invertir su signo: en La carne de René (1952) el aprendizaje se revela como proceso de disciplinamiento en el marco de un biopoder que apunta a la producción de cuerpos dóciles y subjetividades funcionales en virtud de su absoluta disponibilidad. La inversión y la literalización constituyen los principales procedimientos mediante los cuales se parodizan ciertos postulados del existencialismo, la fenomenología y el pensamiento cartesiano a los efectos de iluminar el lado oscuro de la racionalidad moderna. This article proposes that Virgilio Piñera reappropriates the structure of the Bildungsroman to subvert its meaning and invert its sign: in La carne de René (1952), learning is revealed as a process of disciplining within the framework of a biopower that aims at the production of docile bodies and functional subjectivities by virtue of their absolute availability. Inversion and literalization constitute the principal procedures through which certain postulates of existentialism, phenomenology, and Cartesian thought are parodied in order to illuminate the dark side of modern rationality.
