Piedralén es el topónimo de una alta peña situada sobre Cervera del Río Alhama, hoy municipio de la Comunidad Autónoma de La Rioja. En esta localidad y en relación con esa peña se sitúan dos libros que parecen coincidir y complementarse en cuanto al tema. Los dos tratan de la violencia, ya sea la procedente del nacionalismo españolista o del nacionalismo vasco que surge en la posguerra. Uno de ellos se titula Piedralén (2010), obra del historiador logroñés Carlos Gil Andrés, y el otro Ojos que no ven (2009), relato del novelista soriano J. Á. González Sainz, donde el topónimo se muda a Pedralén. El objeto de este artículo es relacionar ambos libros con el llamado ‘problema de España’, que ha impedido desde el siglo XIX la articulación de un Estado que armonice los particularismos más o menos nacionalistas.
Piedralén is the toponym of a high rock located above Cervera del Río Alhama, today a municipality in the Autonomous Community of La Rioja. Two books are set in this town and related to this rock, both of which seem to overlap and complement each other in terms of subject matter. Both deal with violence, whether stemming from Spanish nationalism or the Basque nationalism that emerged in the postwar period. One of the books is titled Piedralén (2010), a work by the Logroño historian Carlos Gil Andrés, and the other is Ojos que no ven (2009), a story by the novelist from Soria J. Á. González Sainz in which the toponym is changed to Pedralén. The purpose of this article is to relate both books to the so-called ‘problem of Spain’, which has prevented the formation of a State that harmonizes the more or less nationalist particularisms since the XIXth Century.
Piedralén est le nom d'un haut rocher situé au-dessus de Cervera del Río Alhama, aujourd'hui commune de la Communauté autonome de La Rioja. Dans cette ville et en relation avec ce rocher, il y a deux livres qui semblent coïncider et se compléter en termes de sujet. Tous deux traitent de la violence, soit celle du nationalisme espagnol ou du nationalisme basque apparu dans l’après-guerre. L'un des livres s'intitule Piedralén (2010), une œuvre de l'historien de Logroño Carlos Gil Andrés, et l'autre est Ojos que no ven (2009), du romancier de Soria J.Á. González Sainz, où le nom du lieu devient Pedralén. Le but de cet ouvrage est de relier les deux livres au soi-disant ‘problème de l'Espagne’ qui a empêché dès le XIX siècle la formation d'un État harmonisant plus ou moins les particularismes nationalistes.
