This article introduces a newly identified witness of the memórias version of the Crónica do Xarife Mulei Mahamet e d’el-Rey D. Sebastião (CXMM), preserved in the codex Casa Palmela, Liv. 210 (T). Following a brief contextual overview of the manuscript tradition of the CXMM, the study presents a number of codicological and palaeographical observations which suggest that the manuscript was likely copied between the 1660s and 1670s. Collation with the other known witnesses of the memórias version indicates that T belongs to the µ3 branch of the tradition, showing close affinities with A4 and, in various respects, with A2. The analysis of textual variants has made it possible not only to reassess earlier hypotheses of textual contamination (Lombardo, 2025), but also to propose an updated stemma codicum, thereby contributing to a deeper understanding of the manuscript transmission of the CXMM.
Este artigo dá a conhecer um novo testemunho da versão memórias da Crónica do Xarife Mulei Mahamet e d’el-Rey D. Sebastião (CXMM), conservado no códice Casa Palmela, Liv. 210 (T). Após uma breve contextualização acerca da tradição manuscrita da CXMM, apresentam-se algumas observações de caráter codicológico e paleográfico que permitem situar a provável data de cópia do manuscrito entre as décadas de1660 e 1670. A colação com os restantes testemunhos conhecidos da versão memórias sugere que T pertence ao ramo µ3 da tradição, mostrando proximidade com A4 e, em diversos aspetos, afinidades com A2. A análise das variantes permitiu não só reavaliar hipóteses anteriores de contaminação textual (Lombardo, 2025), como também propor uma atualização do stemma codicum, assim contribuindo para um conhecimento mais aprofundado da transmissão manuscrita da Crónica.
