En el estudio se efectúa un análisis de las novelas de Nona Fernández, focalizando el interés en los centros del “horror” que existen en cada uno de los textos, los que están conectados, inevitablemente, con episodios laterales de la dictadura chilena. Sobre la base de ese “horror” se implementa el sistema neoliberal en Chile. A partir de ello, se analizan los efectos del capitalismo en los cuerpos de la ciudadanía, en especial, de los trastornos de salud mental. De esta forma, y a propósito de la narrativa de Fernández, se efectúa una reflexión acerca de los diversos alcances de la enfermedad en el neoliberalismo y, de forma pormenorizada, del breve paréntesis que supuso la revuelta de 2019, inyectando otros posibles. Como muestra la escritora, si el arte y la literatura poseen una función política en el contexto social actual, es porque funcionan intentando deshacer nuestra sujeción a la esfera individual, así como a la frecuencia deseante que determina la falta de vínculo social en el neoliberalismo. Para su análisis, se emplean una serie de recursos provenientes de la filosofía contemporánea.
This study analyzes the novels of Nona Fernández, focusing on the centers of “horror” present in each of the texts—centers that are inevitably connected to peripheral episodes of the Chilean dictatorship. Based on these manifestations of horror, the neoliberal system is implemented in Chile. From this perspective, the analysis explores the effects of capitalism on citizens’ bodies, particularly in relation to mental health disorders. Drawing on Fernández’s narrative, the study reflects on the various implications of illness under neoliberalism, as well as on the brief parenthesis opened by the 2019 uprising, which injected the possibility of alternative futures. As the writer demonstrates, if art and literature have a political function in the current social context, it is because they strive to undo our attachment to the individual sphere and to the desiring frequency that shapes our relations with others under neoliberalism. The analysis draws on several resources from contemporary philosophy.
