El trabajo propone un recorrido por la tradición del canto a porfía en Chile, desde la poesía popular impresa a la canción de autor, con la figura de Violeta Parra como nodo. Sin pretender una revisión exhaustiva, el artículo ofrece una suerte de rastreo genealógico del canto empecinado y desafiante y da pistas sobre sus diversas manifestaciones textuales: desde la arenga directa, a la delicadeza sentimental y la máscara humorística. Este acotado repaso desde la tradición del cantor y pueta de la Lira Popular hasta la figura del cantautor, permite constatar la porfía como marca identitaria de las manifestaciones poético-musicales chilenas, acorde con una particular sensibilidad colectiva.
This work proposes a journey through the tradition of defiant song in Chile, from printed folk poetry to singer-songwriter music, with Violeta Parra as its central figure. Without aiming for an exhaustive review, the article offers a kind of genealogical tracing of this stubborn and defiant style of song and provides insights into its diverse textual manifestations: from direct harangue to sentimental delicacy and humorous mask. This concise overview, from the tradition of the singer and poet of the Lira Popular to the figure of the singer-songwriter, allows us to recognize defiance as an identifying mark of Chilean poetic and musical expressions, in accordance with a particular collective sensibility.
