El objetivo del presente trabajo es estudiar los ecos que la Revolución del 25 de abril en Portugal tuvo en Rumanía, más concretamente en su reflejo en la prensa de la época. Para ello, se analizan las principales publicaciones periódicas del país a lo largo del año 1974 y, puntualmente, algunas anteriores. De esta manera, se puede apreciar no solo la notable repercusión que el fenómeno tuvo en la prensa rumana y el seguimiento posterior, sino también la atención que el país galo recibía antes del mes de abril. El artículo se propone evidenciar, más allá del interés informativo que un fenómeno de tales características puede suscitar en cualquier contexto geográfico y socio-político, los intereses políticos e ideológicos que dictan el tratamiento que los diarios rumanos otorgan a los acontecimientos de abril de 1974, así como la coyuntura del Portugal inmediatamente anterior y posterior.
The objective of this article is to examine the reverberations of the April 25 Revolution in Portugal as reflected in Romania, specifically through the lens of contemporary press coverage. To this end, the study analyzes the main Romanian periodicals published throughout 1974, as well as select issues from earlier periods. This analysis not only reveals the significant resonance the Portuguese events had in the Romanian press and their subsequent coverage, but also sheds light on the level of attention Portugal had received prior to April. Beyond the inherent newsworthiness of such an event within any given geopolitical and socio-political context, the article aims to uncover the political and ideological interests that shaped the Romanian press’s portrayal of the April 1974 events, as well as the broader context in Portugal immediately before and after the revolution.
