Nuestro análisis busca aportar una perspectiva que permita clarificar aquello que está en el centro de la llamada inteligencia artificial: la noción de inteligencia. Buscamos tratar el tema desde un ángulo en el que convergen filología y filosofía: la indagación en el significado clásico de la noción de “inteligencia”, de la mano de Platón, Aristóteles y Plotino. Ello nos permitirá reflexionar sobre lo que significa “inteligencia” para gran parte de nuestra tradición filosófica. Se trata de atender a los aspectos que son indisociables de este concepto y su campo semántico. Tras este ejercicio podremos clarificar en qué sentido es “inteligencia” la inteligencia artificial o si esta nomenclatura funciona, más bien, como una metáfora que refleja los entramados históricos, sociológicos y culturales que están operando en un momento dado.
Our analysis seeks to offer a perspective on what lies at the center of so-called artificial intelligence: the notion of intelligence itself. We seek to address this topic from an angle where philology and philosophy converge, examining the classical meaning of the word “intelligence” through the works of Plato, Aristotle, and Plotinus. This approach allows us to reflect on the meaning of “intelligence” within a significant part of our philosophical tradition. It focuses on the aspects that are inseparable from this concept and its semantic field. Following this examination, we can clarify in what sense artificial intelligence is “intelligence”, or whether this nomenclature functions instead as a metaphor reflecting the historical, sociological, and cultural interellations at work at a given moment.
