El Código de Comercio español introdujo la figura de los corredores intérpretes de buques. A partir de la investigación realizada en los archivos del Boletín Oficial del Estado, la Cámara de Comercio de Barcelona y el Congreso de los Diputados, este artículo traza la historia legislativa del cuerpo, caracteriza la «lucha jurisdiccional» que se desencadenó entre los corredores intérpretes y los demás profesionales que ejercían actividades de mediación lingüística en los puertos españoles, y analiza la oposición ejercida por la Cámara de Comercio barcelonesa contra los sucesivos intentos de reorganizar el cuerpo en las cuatro primeras décadas del siglo xx.
The Spanish Commercial Code introduced the figure of ship interpreter brokers. Based on research carried out in the archives of the Official State Gazette, the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce and the Congress of Deputies, this article traces the legislative history of the body, characterizes the "jurisdictional struggle" that was unleashed between the ship interpreter brokers and the other professionals who carried out linguistic mediation activities in Spanish ports, and analyses the opposition exercised by the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce against the successive attempts to reorganize the body in the first four decades of the 20th century.
