El artículo analiza la raíz léxica ku y su variante alofónica kü presentes en el lenguaje institucional mapuche, en voces que designan relaciones sociales de linaje y concepciones religiosas y cosmovisionarias que tienen profundidad histórica y relevancia cultural. A través del estudio de las constelaciones semióticas de los términos, explicitamos su relación con el simbolismo del movimiento que codifica concepciones circulares del tiempo y el espacio compartidas en el mundo andino. En ellas se expresan modelos ontológicos marcados por la simultaneidad diacrónica en la manifestación de estas dimensiones, la disolución o transposición de sus límites y el desplazamiento de diversas entidades a través de ellos. El cotejo translingüístico muestra la existencia de voces afines con similares significados en varias lenguas de la región andina, cuyo correlato simbólico expresa relaciones interculturales de larga data entre sus pueblos.
The article analyzes the lexical root ku and its allophonic variant kü present in the Mapuche institutional language in terms that refer to lineage social relations, religious and world-view ideas which have historical roots and cultural relevance. Through the study of the se-miotic constellations of the terms, we clearly state their relationship with the symbolism of movement which encodes circular understanding of time and space shared in the Andean world. They display ontological models marked by diachronic simultaneous events within these dimensions, including the dissolution or transposition of their limits, and the notion of movement of various kinds of entities through them. The cross-linguistic comparison reveals the existence of related terms with similar meanings in various languages of the Andean region whose symbolic correlation expresses long-standing intercultural relation-ships among their peoples.
