La relación entre autobiografía y retórica se explica por sus orígenes en la Antigüedad. Platón con su Carta VII e Isócrates con su Antidosis fundan un género que tendrá un lugar de capital importancia en la historia cultural de Occidente. Las aproximaciones más relevantes a este género son las de Georg Misch y Philippe Lejeune. Lejeune ha opacado a Misch, a pesar de que sus méritos no resisten comparación.
The relationship between autobiography and rhetoric can be explained by its origins in antiquity. Plato with his Letter VII and Isocrates with his Antidosis founded a genre that will have a place of capital importance in the cultural history of the West. The most relevant approaches to this genre are those of Georg Misch and Philippe Lejeune. Lejeune has overshadowed Misch, although his merits cannot be compared.
