Este artículo revisa el contexto histórico y normativo chileno entre las décadas de los sesenta y los noventa, es decir, desde antes de la Unidad Popular a la dictadura, para argumentar que la represión y políticas policiales contra las diversidades sexo-genéricas son una construcción anterior al régimen pinochetista y que este no implementó nuevas normativas hacia esta población. Sin embargo, los hostigamientos y represión a las disidencias sexo-genéricas se ajustaron a la violencia de género estructural que la dictadura militar desplegó sobre la sociedad chilena como una forma de imponer orden social y moral, para restablecer el orden y la disciplina alterados durante la revolución socialista.
This article analyzes the normative and repressive context within Chilean society between the 1960s and 1990, before the Allende government until the end of the dictator-ship. It argues that Pinochet’s regime did not create any new policy toward homosexuals and the rest of the sexually diverse population; most of the norms and repressive policies against them were implemented decades before. During the dictatorship, police harassment on the street, nightclubs, and cruising areas increased. Still, it was part of the gender policies that the military displayed to impose social order and proper heterosexual moral conduct onto the population.
