The article is devoted to the impact of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine on the axiological attitudes to the Russian and Ukrainian languages in the country. The author uses the approach of corpus-based discourse studies to analyze 800 utterances that contain positive or negative evaluations of both languages recorded in online media texts in 2021–2022. The source of the raw data is the General Regionally Annotated Corpus of Ukrainian. The study establishes the criteria for evaluating these two languages and the values implied in media statements as well as calculates their frequency. The Schwartz values typology is used for this procedure. This methodological combination allowed discovering which values dominated in 2021 and 2022 in the Ukrainian media discourse on the languages. The study also reveals how evaluations of the Russian and Ukrainian languages have changed over this period. The results indicate that in 2021, public attention was primarily focused on the legislative regulation of language use, whereas in 2022 it shifted to issues concerning personal choice of a particular language
