• Resumen

  • This is one of several articles that figured in a debate about the nature of the jarchas and muwashshaḥāt. Samuel G. Armistead and James T. Monroe argue, in response to Alan Jones, that the jarchas are verses that contain words in the Romance dialect of the peninsula and that the proper interpretation of the jarchas requires not only a knowledge of Arabic but also of the vernacular poetic tradition.
