Las novelas de El capitán Alatriste son una clara reescritura del patrón de las vidas de soldados del Siglo de Oro, asunto que se examina en el presente trabajo: luego de ofrecer algunas pruebas de la filiación, se define el esquema autobiográfico doble del relato, se analizan los cambios formales y temáticos, y finalmente se comentan otros ingredientes ornamentales. Así, se trata de explicar la nueva apuesta estética y ética de esta reescritura contemporánea.
Captain Alatriste’s novels are a clear rewriting of the pattern of the lives of soldiers of the Golden Age, a subject that is examined in this work: after offering some evidence of this filiation, the double autobiographical scheme of the story is defined, the formal and thematic changes are analyzed, and finally other ornamental ingredients are commented on. By doing so, this paper tries to explain the new aesthetic and ethical commitment of this contemporary rewriting.
