El artículo aborda los vínculos y las distancias entre China y Hong Kong, a partir del análisis de la figura del fotógrafo Fan Ho. Influido por corrientes internacionales, especialmente la vinculada a Cartier-Bresson, también está vinculado al pictorialismo chino y, en definitiva, al interés por transmitir a través de su cámara la cotidianidad entre la que se desenvolvió. En ese sentido, Fan Ho es una bisagra cultural.
This article addresses the semiotic links and distances between Hong Kong and the rest of China, based on the casuistry provided by photography, and in particular the work of Fan Ho, one of the leading figures in 20th-century photography. After reviewing the different stages of the development of photography in China and Hong Kong, we proceed to analyze Fan Ho's work. His work is undoubtedly linked to the influential figure of Cartier-Bresson, but also to Chinese pictorialism and an intention to capture everyday life that circulated beyond China's internal borders.
