Violence is a discourse that is simplified through the media. Jaime Pinos knows this well in Criminal (2003), his first book of poems, where he establishes a confluence of texts where discourses from newspapers, certain state powers and even images, among other elements, intersect. In this work, the poet questions the narration of the facts through the heterogeneity of points of view, breaking up the single meaning that usually emerges from the media’s vision of reality, proposing the multiplication of interpretations of the events that occurred around the life experience of “El Tila”.
