En los últimos diez o veinte años hemos visto aparecer en el mercado editorial alemán más novelas escritas por autores de la llamada generación de los hijos de la reunificación. En sus textos, se centran en la infancia y la juventud de sus protagonistas (autoficcionales) poco antes de la caída de la RDA o durante los años de transformación en Alemania Oriental. En este artículo, me gustaría, en primer lugar, mostrar qué se entiende por la generación de los hijos de la reunificación. Posteriormente, se presentarán las novelas seleccionadas y se explorará la cuestión de los ejes temáticos de esta nueva literatura. El paso final será explicar hasta qué punto se ofrece aquí una nueva perspectiva sobre el pasado de la RDA y la transformación de Alemania Oriental, y cómo las novelas enriquecen la cultura del recuerdo de los últimos treinta años.
Over the last ten to twenty years, the German literary market has seen an increasing number of novels written by authors belonging to the so-called generation of the children of reunification. In their texts, the authors focus on the childhood and youth of their (auto-fictional) protagonists shortly before the fall of the GDR or during the years of transformation in East Germany. This article first outlines what is meant by the generation of the children of reunification. It then introduces a selection of representative novels and examines the main thematic focal points of this new literature. Finally, it discusses the extent to which these works offer a new perspective on the GDR past and on the transformation of East Germany, as well as how these novels enrich the culture of remembrance of the last thirty years.
Seit den letzten zehn bis zwanzig Jahren ist zu beobachten, dass immer mehr Romane auf dem deutschen Buchmarkt erscheinen, die von Autor:innen der so genannten Generation der Wendekinder geschrieben sind. In ihren Texten thematisieren sie die Kindheit und Jugend ihrer (autofiktiven) Protagonist:innen kurz vor dem Untergang der DDR und/oder während der Transformationsjahre in Ostdeutschland. In diesem Beitrag möchte ich zunächst aufzeigen, was unter der Generation der Wendekinder zu verstehen ist. Im Anschluss sollen ausgewählte Romane vorgestellt und der Frage nachgegangen werden, welche thematischen Schwerpunkte diese neue Wendeliteratur setzt. Im letzten Schritt soll erläutert werden, inwiefern hier ein neuer Blick auf die DDR-Vergangenheit und die ostdeutsche Transformation geboten wird und wie die Romane von und über Wendekinder die Erinnerungskultur der letzten dreißig Jahre bereichern.
