This brief contribution aims to recover an unpublished translation that Manuel Mujica Lainez (aka Manucho) made of the famous episode of Paolo and Francesca –from the Canto V of Dante’s Inferno– a translation preserved in the final pages of the libretto for the opera Bomarzo, for which the Argentine writer was also responsible in adapting his own novel of the same name. In this piece, I will present an edited version based on the original manuscript and offer some commentary on the translation itself, as well as on the sketch of the “labyrinth”.
