The aim of this article is to analyze, in Ramón Pérez de Ayala’s dystopia, entitled The Sentimental Revolution, how language and its functioning enable a revision and destabilization of the existing oppressive power that emerges in this dystopian world. This analysis, which starts with the installation in this dystopia of the three dimensions of time (past, present and future), allows for a review of the connection of language with practices, sensations, concepts and, intertextually, with past voices and discourses. This analytical deployment demonstrates the ability of language to recover, through desalienating actions and intertextual reconstructions, the irreducible feature of any centralized and dystopian power: the feelings and subjectivity of human beings.
