Despite its geographical location (in the province of Albacete bordering on Murcia, Alicante and Valencia), the dialect of Caudete has a notable Aragonese and Catalan influence, since until 1707 it belonged to the former Kingdom of Valencia. This influence is evident, mainly, in the lexicon and in the morphology, since it has many suffixes mainly of Aragonese origin. The same thing happens in the dialects of the southwest of the province of Castellón, the west of the province of Valencia, Villena and Sax in the province of Alicante, and the province of Murcia. In more recent times (19th and 20th centuries), there was a significant Andalusian influence in the phonetics, which (as in Sax) has been weaker than in the neighbouring city of Villena. Thus, the areal rules of Linguistic Geography are fulfilled.
